Manic’s “Merrymaking Kit” is a great example of a creative, whimsical holiday gift. A little bit of relabeling, a fun theme and good copy, and you’ve got yourself a winner. I’m trying to figure out how to make my own variation on this for personal gifts this year.

“This kit holds all of Manic’s secret ingredients for a remarkable Christmas. Consumed correctly, this bundle will produce the most magical effects eternal youth; a keen nose to guide you to the nearest bar; an outstanding sense of humor; and an insatiable desire to be merry.

Effects are instant and last between six to twelve hours. Consume and take the night by storm, or kick-back and watch your stars align.

“Having recently moved into a new studio space, we wanted to tie in our 2011 Christmas gift with our office warming party. Based on the theme of RoAndCordials, we collaborated with Morris Kitchen who provided us with beautifully bottled and equally delicious Ginger Syrup. We printed the bottle labels in the style of traditional medicine/cordial bottles, including Ginger Syrup cocktail recipes and Happy Holiday messages in the text.”

If only this wasn’t a rebranding experiment because I think paint cans could use a design overhaul. Considering how big the DIY and home decorating market has become, a distinctive design like this could help corner a portion of the market.
My favorite points:
The cans are have a matte or gloss finish depending upon the paint inside.
Using different crops of the logo, each paint or sub brand has it’s own individual look but are all quite clearly part of a bigger brand family.
Cubes reduce storage space and transport, and as a result reduce the environmental impact. Combining a paint return/disposal program with the ability to recycle the plastic cans as well would make this even more environmentally friendly.

Finally someone designed a packaging tab that I can actually hold onto. I can’t wait to see some products on the grocery store shelves using it. In particular, cans of nuts with those annoying little aluminum tabs that never pull free. Also, coffee cans. Really any product targeting an older market would be a good fit.

Such a fun idea! Every little boy (and a couple of big one’s as well) would love to receive this as a gift. The branch packaging just ups the fun factor.

A chocolate a day keeps the blues away! I love this packaging idea.

considertheaesthetic:

  1. I stumbled on these cool chocolates from Xavier Mor Chocolatier when I was in Switzerland. I was in a Globus (sort of like Macy’s) and fell in love with all the different kinds of chocolate they had to offer. This is just one of a few posts I’ll be doing about the chocolate I found there.

Leave it to the Swiss to think of packaging chocolate like it’s medicine. Very funny. Very Swiss. Anyways, what do you think?

Fantastic packaging concept. I’m not an expert in astronomy so the nerdy part of me would like to know if they got the constellations right, but it still makes me happy.

Theodent, a cocoa based toothpaste…
So not only does this general concept rock. (I’m always on board for cocoa.) But, the design of this packaging also knocked my socks off. The dark rich brown color is eye catchingly different from all of the white, blues and greens found on most toothpaste packaging. Add in the lovely metallic lettering, which is repeated as a gold looking foil on the exterior of the box and this piece will definitely leap off the shelf. Plus, when you finally open the box and see the toothpaste tube inside, the fun tip design reminds be of a big kids marker.
Overall packaging success! Now if only there was a chocolate flavor.
