If only this wasn’t a rebranding experiment because I think paint cans could use a design overhaul. Considering how big the DIY and home decorating market has become, a distinctive design like this could help corner a portion of the market.
My favorite points:
The cans are have a matte or gloss finish depending upon the paint inside.
Using different crops of the logo, each paint or sub brand has it’s own individual look but are all quite clearly part of a bigger brand family.
Cubes reduce storage space and transport, and as a result reduce the environmental impact. Combining a paint return/disposal program with the ability to recycle the plastic cans as well would make this even more environmentally friendly.

A Study in Brand Minimalism from The Dieline

I love this article (click on the pics or links above to see more examples).

What would happen if you took iconic brands and minimalized the details on their packaging to their absolute minimum? Is that going to help or hurt the brand? Mehmet Gozetlik of the design collective Antrepo decided to see for himself.

Fantastic marketing campaign concept! I love the juxtaposition of taking a tangible, every day product (in this case British Marmite) and taking it out of context by re-branding it for an intangible service (in this case an online dating site). The surprise of seeing something familiar that’s just different enough to catch your attention is highly effective.
These great colored pencil illustrations are by Christine Berrie. Now based in Glasgow, she completed her MA at the RCA in 2002, making a name for herself with her beautifully rendered photorealistic style since then.
