Check out PANTONE’s new makeup palate for 2012 color of the year, Tangerine Tango. (They teamed with Sephora)
The make-up collection will feature the bright reddish-orange hue in various forms, such as luminous eyeliner, creamy lipsticks, nail polish, blush, lip-gloss, faux lashes and eye shadow.
This would include colored tools that bear the tangerine spirit for you to apply the makeup with, such as brushes, eyelash curlers and makeup pouches.
Now I’ve heard some gripping about this along the lines of “OMG not another PANTONE product!!! What’s next a (insert product name here)?” But, mostly it seems to be coming from guys and fella’s I have to tell you that there is nothing at all logical about how makeup colors are chosen. Have you seen some of the things they put on models in print ads?
Personally, this color palette makes way more sense to me than say the turquoise or purple lipstick I recently saw on some pics of runway models for Spring 2012. And it’s not like there aren’t a wide range of makeup shades out there (dark greens and blues, purples, candy pinks, neon’s of any color, etc…) which really aren’t colors most people can pull off (except at Halloween) without risking looking like they’re trapped in the 80’s or a Drag Queen. At least Tangerine is reasonably close to a flushed skin tones.
